History
My Brother's Keeper Shelter, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, began operation on February 18, 2019. Its founder, Minister Marcus Simmons, and four local churches in the Florence area initially joined together to ensure that the homeless and others in need would receive essential services as needed (hot dinners, clean clothes, hot showers, hygiene products, care packages, access to the internet, and spiritual encouragement) seven days per week during the federal government shutdown of 2018-2019.
In 2019, My Brother's Keeper Shelter served more than 33,000 meals. In 2020, My Brother's Keeper Shelter served more than 75,000 meals....and the needs are still great!
